Born in Liberty, NY in 1947 to an artistically inclined family who encouraged her talents, Sima studied and majored in art throughout her education. She was awarded scholarships, presenting at group and solo exhibits. After graduating from New York City’s prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, Sima continued to follow her passion at Art Student League where she is a life member.
She lived, worked, and painted in Israel in the early 70’s, and upon her marriage, moved to Toronto, Canada. There she raised three children while working as a color consultant, decorator, and designer.
Hailing from an Orthodox Jewish background, Sima is drawn to the richness of Chassidic life. Her paintings tell a story, often with a bit of humor. She is inspired by various subjects: a beautiful landscape, a Jewish festival, the innocence of children, and a candid moment.
Sima has developed an impressive body of artwork, found in collections in the U.S., Canada & Israel.
